About
Mission

At Serene Minds Wellness, we are dedicated to providing a compassionate and tailored approach to therapy. Our mission is to empower individuals to navigate their challenges, achieve mental wellness, and foster personal development. Through a safe and supportive space, we help clients explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a non-judgmental environment, working towards healing and growth.
Method

Services are offered through both secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions and in-person appointments. This allows clients to choose the format that best fits their needs while receiving individualized, evidence-based care. Therapy is collaborative, transparent, and skills-focused, with the same level of clinical care and professionalism provided across both in-person and virtual settings.
Treatment Specialties
OCD & Anxiety
We provide evidence-based treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related conditions, using approaches such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Inference Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), along with other complimentary approaches. Our goal is to help you face fears, break free from unhelpful patterns, and build confidence in your ability to navigate uncertainty—so you can live with greater freedom and peace of mind.
Life Transitions
Life transitions therapy offers support during times of change—such as career shifts, relationship changes, relocation, or major life events. Together, we’ll navigate uncertainty, build coping strategies, and help you move forward with clarity, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Couples Therapy
We help couples improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate conflict with greater understanding and connection. Through a supportive, nonjudgmental approach, we guide partners in identifying unhelpful patterns, developing healthier ways of relating, and fostering emotional closeness. Whether you're facing ongoing challenges or seeking to strengthen your bond, therapy provides a space to grow together with intention.
Professional Training
We offer professional training designed to support clinicians and graduate students in building confidence and competence in evidence-based treatment. With a focus on OCD, anxiety disorders, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), our workshops and consultations blend clinical expertise with practical application. Whether you're new to the field or deepening your skills, our trainings provide clear guidance, real-world examples, and supportive learning to enhance your clinical practice.
Wellness Retreats
Our wellness retreats are designed to help you reset, reconnect, and restore your well-being—whether through an immersive overnight getaway or a personalized in-home experience. Each retreat blends therapeutic guidance with intentional practices like mindfulness, journaling, nature connection, and restorative self-care. We tailor the experience to your goals, offering a supportive space to reflect, recharge, and create meaningful change. Ideal for small groups seeking a deeper sense of balance and clarity.
Therapeutic Approaches
Explore the world of psychotherapy with Serene Minds Wellness
With many therapeutic approaches available, it can be hard to decide what’s right for you. This is a collaborative process between you and your therapist and an important part of treatment planning. To help you better understand what we offer, here’s a brief explanation of some common therapy jargon. Let us guide you through the process of mental well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
An evidence-based approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It helps people identify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, develop coping strategies, and practice skills that support meaningful, lasting change.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Focuses on teaching coping skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, tolerate distress, and live mindfully. It’s often used for emotion regulation and impulsive behaviors.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Structured therapy for trauma and PTSD that helps people identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs related to the traumatic event.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
A type of therapy for OCD that gradually and safely exposes people to feared thoughts or situations while helping them resist compulsive behaviors, reducing anxiety and increasing valued living over time.
Acceptance and Commit-ment Therapy (ACT)
Encourages accepting difficult thoughts and feelings while clarifying personal values and committing to meaningful actions, rather than trying to eliminate all uncomfortable experiences.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Uses mindfulness practices—like meditation and present-moment awareness—to help people reduce stress, manage emotions, and respond to thoughts and feelings more skillfully.
Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(I-CBT)
A specialized therapy for OCD that targets the “inferences” or imagined meanings people attach to intrusive thoughts, helping reduce compulsions driven by uncertainty or imagined threats.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Explores the different “parts” within a person’s mind (e.g., protective or wounded parts) and helps them communicate and integrate these parts to promote healing and inner harmony.
Somatic Therapy
Focuses on the connection between the mind and body, helping people process trauma or stress through bodily awareness, movement, and physical sensations alongside traditional talk therapy.

What is LCSW and how does it differ from other mental health professional titles?
LCSW stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker. An LCSW is a master’s-level, state-licensed mental health professional trained to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, provide psychotherapy, and address the social and environmental factors affecting wellbeing. Compared to other titles (such as LMFT, LPC, or psychologist), LCSWs have a strong systems and person-in-environment perspective, while still offering evidence-based therapy similar to other licensed clinicians.
What’s the difference between seeing a doctoral-level or master’s-level therapist?
For most people, there is no significant difference in outcomes between seeing a doctoral-level (PhD or PsyD) or master’s-level (LCSW, LMFT, LPC) therapist. Both are fully licensed and trained to diagnose and treat mental health concerns using evidence-based therapy. Doctoral-level clinicians receive additional training in research and psychological testing and may be helpful for complex assessments, while master’s-level clinicians focus heavily on practical, relational, and systems-based therapy. Ultimately, the quality of the therapeutic relationship, the clinician’s experience, and how well they fit your needs matter more than the specific degree. Choose the therapist who feels like the best fit for your needs, goals, and comfort level.
Should I be seeing a doctor instead?
You do not need to see a medical doctor to benefit from therapy. Many people start with a master’s-level therapist or psychologist for counseling, and add a psychiatrist if medication is needed. The “right” provider depends on whether you’re seeking therapy, medication, or both.
